About Troop 33
Welcome to the Scouts BSA and Troop 33. By becoming a Scout, you are starting out on the great adventure of Scouting. This is an important and rewarding endeavor that you will remember for years to come. We have been active members of the Montecito community for more than 75 years.
In addition to weekly meetings, there are monthly trips where you’ll find our scouts backpacking through our wonderful Los Padres National Forest, mountain biking as close as Elings Park or through Montana De Oro, or providing help through numerous service opportunities and Eagle Scout projects. Our troop has participated in all sorts of community outreach activities ranging including the annual Montecito July 4th Celebrations and the Milpas Holiday Parades.
During the summer months, activities continue at Emerald Bay on Catalina Island or the other BSA camps and culminates in our annual Sierra Trip where our scouts spend 8 to 9 nights and travel well over the required distances to earn the coveted 50-Miler Award.
Generation after generation, Troop 33 has instilled the principles of Scouting as embodied in our Scout Law: a Scout is trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean, and reverent.
Service, personal growth, friendship, and adventure are the four pillars of Troop 33’s Scouting program. Committed adult leaders and mentors help our scouts set and achieve goals, learn to plan and work together, develop leadership abilities, and build outdoor survival skills.
Troop 33 is sponsored by the American Legion, Post 49, serving Santa Barbara, CA.
